GERI ACOSTA is a San Francisco, California native. Her first art influence was when her mother came to her defense when Geri was caught by her father drawing on her bedroom walls. 'Leave her alone! That's her room! She is expressing herself!', she remembers her mother lamenting. Later in life when she could not afford to decorate her first home with original works of art, she decided to paint her own. She has not stopped painting since!

After studies in numerous art institutions, and workshops with many renowned artists such as Ted Gerschner, William Reese and John Budicin, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Fullerton State University. She moved from San Francisco to Napa,
( here she first learned to paint using only a palette knife) received a nursing degree there, moved to Sacramento then on to Los Angeles before settling in Redding, California in 1989. She has retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2008 to paint full time.
Geri is a Signature member of Whiskeytown Plein-air Painters of Northern California, an Associate member of Oil Painters of America, and a member of Tucson Plein-air Painters Society and Arizona Plein-air Painters. She has shown in numerous galleries, paints and travels to such places as Hawaii, Europe, Greece, Crete, Turkey, Egypt and the Virgin Islands as well as the United States. She has won several Best of Shows and has clientele throughout the USA, Canada, France, Mexico, and Portugal.
Geri's work has been described as 'passionate and colorful' that endeavor to give subjects meaning that surpasses their reality.
